The scholarship is available for the PhD Direct Programme, with applications open until June 1, 2024, and classes scheduled to commence in August 2024.
Singa is a collaborative effort between the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and several prestigious universities in Singapore, including Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore Management University (SMU), and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

According to official information, the Doctorate (PhD) in Science and Engineering programs across various Singaporean campuses are highly sought after by scholarship recipients.
They will undergo coursework, conduct research, and complete a research thesis after passing the Qualifying Exam.
Scholarship recipients are entitled to choose their research locations, especially at A*STAR, NTU, NUS, SMU, or SUTD.
The PhD degree will be awarded by one of these universities without any service bond.

The fields of study covered by this scholarship include Biomedical Sciences, Computing and Information Sciences, Engineering, Technology, and Physical Sciences, with an average PhD study duration of 4 years.
The Singa scholarship selection process emphasizes research experience, particularly for master's degree holders. The overall assessment includes project proposals and interviews conducted in English.
Interestingly, Singa does not require scholarship recipients to take tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, SAT I and II, GATE, and GRE, although some campuses may have additional requirements.
The benefits of the Singa scholarship include application fee waivers, full tuition coverage, and a monthly stipend of 2,200 Singapore dollars, which can increase to 2,700 Singapore dollars per month after passing the Qualifying Exam.

An arrival allowance of 1,000 Singapore dollars and a one-time travel grant of 1,500 Singapore dollars are also provided.
Application requirements include a passport, passport-sized photo in JPEG/PNG format, translated academic transcripts from bachelor's and master's degrees into English, a bachelor's degree or Letter of Certification of Graduation (if the degree has not been issued yet), and two online recommendation letters filled out by recommenders.
Although not mandatory, GRE, IELTS, TOEFL, SAT I & II, or GATE scores can be included to enhance the chances of receiving the scholarship.
